Lynette L. Vakulskas

Davenport, IA The visitation for Lynette L. Vakulskas, 51, of Davenport, will be Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Cremation rites have been accorded, as was her wish. A memorial mass will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sioux City, IA. Lynette passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.Lynette Lee Blakely was born on January 12, 1958 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Forrest and Lila (McGee) Blakely. She married Mike Vakulskas on September 23, 1978 in Sioux City, IA. She worked in the Registrar’s Office at Muscatine Community College, then did clerical work for MidAmerican Energy for the last 3 years before her illness. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother.She enjoyed yardwork, planting flowers, cross-stitching, and spending time with her family.Survivors include her husband Mike of Davenport, sons; Todd (Meghan Theard) Vakulskas of Normal, IL, Christopher (Miriam) Vakulskas of Coralville, IA, her parents, Forrest and Lila Blakely of Sioux City, IA and brother; Steve Blakely.She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas and an infant son, Timothy.Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf or to the University of Iowa Comprehensive Cancer Center for Brain Tumor research.
