Ken was born on September 21, 1946 to Kenneth and Anna (Ubbens) Metcalf in New York, NY. He graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography. He was member of Sigma Pi fraternity. He served in the Air Force for 4 years then worked in the printing industry. Ken was the proud owner of International Printing Equipment Company, retiring in 2011.
Ken was a member of the St. Croix Yacht Club for many years where he was the bocce ball champion 3 times with his son Kenny. In his late teens and early twenties he played saxophone in a band while in college.
Ken loved the water, boating, and owned many boats. He enjoyed fishing in Long Island, NY with his grandpa and dad and fishing the Gulf of Mexico. Kenneth spent many years living in Stillwater, MN and Marco Island/Naples, FL. He loved music, especially 60’s rock & roll, Jimmy Buffet, and collecting antiques such as scrimshaw, beer steins, and records. He cherished Thanksgiving dinner and spending time with family. He took pride in making a better dressing than his sister.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kenneth W. Metcalf of Edina, MN; sister, Dale (Paul) Meyer of Eldridge, IA; nephew, Brad (Emily) Meyer and his children, Caleb and Jackson all of Walcott, IA; niece, Dawn Meyer and her children, Dallas and Blake.
