Born in Moline, IL, to James and Ann (Kostadelos) Gartelos, Kathryn was deeply rooted in her Greek heritage, which infused her life with vibrant culture and traditions. She carried a deep love for her family and friends, always offering a warm smile and a listening ear.
Kathryn married the love of her life, Gordon Siokos, in 1970. They honored their love and commitment to each other above all else. Anyone who knew them could see their devotion to each other just by being in their presence.
Kathryn's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to Gordon for 53 years, a loving mother, and a cherished Yiayia. Her unwavering love and support were the foundation of their lives.
Kathryn graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959, and earned her degree in education from Augustana College in 1963. She began teaching in 1963 at Glenview Junior High in East Moline, IL, before moving and teaching near Chicago, until 1974. Returning to Davenport, she taught at Sudlow Junior High from 1981 to 1994, and Davenport West High from 1994 to 2006, retiring after 37 years. She was known for her passion in teaching literature, including the great novels, Romeo and Juliet and Great Expectations.
