Our loving father, John Voss, Jr., went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to be disbursed over several charities. He was born on October 25, 1938 to John and Virginia (Schutter) Voss, in Davenport, IA. He married Judith L. Kerns April 11, 1959. They were married 51 years before his loving wife passed away. John and Judi owned Marsh and Field Art Gallery for over twenty-five years until they retired. They had a deep passion for wildlife and conservation as well as his love for bee keeping and producing is own honey. John was actively involved in Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Waterfowl USA, National Wild Turkey Federation and was a Lifetime Member of the NRA. He was also a member of numerous hunting and fishing clubs. John’s love for the outdoors continued to the moment the Lord took him home. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him and he will be deeply missed. Those left to carry on his spirit and legacy include his son, Chuck (Molly) Voss, Kernersville, NC; two daughters, Cindy (Joe) Meyers and Suzette (Gail) Vance, both from West Liberty, IA; eight grandchildren: Courtney Behrens, Zachery Vance, Joshua Voss, Hannah Vance, Abigail Voss, Rebekah Voss, Emily Vance and Trevor Meyers; brother, Bob (Diane) Voss, Davenport, IA and sister, Gretchen (Terry) Poffinbarger, Rockford, IL. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a sister, Susan deWet.
