Joanna Merinda Crockett

Joanna M. Crockett, 89, of Davenport, IA, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Genesis East Medical Center. Private family services will be held at Weerts Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com

Joanna was born January 16, 1931, to William Henry and Ruby (Williams) Christopher in Hiawatha, KS. She graduated from Douglas High School in Hannibal, MO. On December 1, 1962, Joanna was united in marriage to Leon Crockett in Davenport. She was employed at Genesis West Medical Center for 30 years. After retirement, Joanna worked part time at Sudlow Junior High for 10 years. Joanna and Leon were members of Temple Baptist Church in Davenport. She enjoyed playing piano and spending time with her beloved dog, Chee Chee.

Joanna will be missed by her children, Gary Christopher Sr. and Patricia (John) Conwell; grandchildren: Carl (Joann) Lampkin Jr., Heather (Samuel) Riddick, Corey Lampkin, Gary (Virginia) Christopher Jr., Eric Christophe and Isaac Christopher; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her niece, Barbara Harvey; and her nephew/son, Dwight Tony Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, a daughter, Vanita Taylor; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Christopher; a grandson, Darin Christopher; and her two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Henrietta Christopher.
