Janet Marie Verdon, 81, of Davenport passed Monday October 12, 2015 at the Kahl Home. A committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Kahl Home. Those wishing to attend the committal service should meet at the Runge Mortuary by 11:00 a.m., Friday. Janet Marie (Green Wilson) Verdon was born into the Bermel family of Muscatine, IA on February 23, 1934. She was raised in Rock Island, IL by her parents, Orville and Madeline (Van De Veire) Wilson. She married W. Daniel Verdon on August 11, 1956 in Rock Island and raised seven children.
She lived for card games and travel as long as it led to more card games. Her favorite entertainments included “Kojak”, “Walker Texas Ranger”, Harry Chapin and Johnny Cash. Her wild side included Jesus Christ Superstar, the early Bette Midler and blue hair. She supported several service organizations. The family will pass memorials along.
Janet treasured her family, extended honorary family, friends and the Kahl Home staff who took great care of her for almost 18 years.
She is survived by her brother David Cecil; sister Ruth (Dave); and children: Tim (Julie), Tammy, Beth, Patty, Joel and Tony (Tim); daughter-in-law Sandy; her grandchildren: Chrissy, Chelsea (Greg), Carmen, Dustin, Jake, Zach, Nicole (Nick) and Chad. She was preceded in death by her parents: Madeline and Orville Wilson, Bernice Miller and David Green; her husband Dan and son Tom.
