James was born October 8, 1938 in Perry, MO to George H. & Mary E. (Foster) Hutcheson. He was united in marriage to Karren Kay McDermott at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Davenport on June 27, 1959. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2007. He then married Norma “Jeanie” Blumenstein on July 4, 2008 in Davenport. Jim had been employed as an operating engineer/crane operator with Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers. He retired in December 1996. As a crane operator, he built many bridges in the Quad Cities including the I-280 bridge. Jim was very proud of all his accomplishments during his career. He was always quick to share a crane story.
Jim and Karren raised their family in Davenport spending weekends camping with family and friends. Jim was a man who could fix anything, loved to garden and bargain hunt at garage sales and flea markets. He was quite the practical joker. His family was the light of his life. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His nieces say he gave the best hugs. Jim enjoyed his retirement years in Los Fresnos, TX.
