A visitation will be held 5pm to 8pm Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Cremation will follow with a private service. Memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever or Ducks Unlimited.
Henry C. Runge, Jr. was born July 21, 1945 in Davenport, IA to Henry & Gayle (Stephens) Runge, Sr. Hank graduated from Davenport Central High School and Augustana College with a degree in Business & Accounting. He was united in marriage to Barbara Rostenbach and later Sheryl Block. His most recent relationship was with Gwen Foulkes. Hank had been employed at Deere Davenport Works for 27 years, retiring as a 3rd shift production supervisor.
He loved the outdoors and his many life adventures included hunting & fishing in Alaska, the Dakotas, Texas, Manitoba & Ontario. He was always looking for the next secret fishing lure to catch the world’s largest walleye. He loved to give people nicknames and tell stories of all his adventures, which were sometimes embellished. He had also traveled to Europe, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, & England where he enjoyed sampling local beers and traveling down 2 sheep roads.
He is survived by his son, Henry “Hank” (Heidi) Runge, III; a daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Coppinger; 7 grandchildren Anna (Riley) Jensen, Margaret Runge, Henry Runge, IV, Rafe Sullivan, John (Aliza) Coppinger, Allison Coppinger, Brandon Coppinger; 4 Great Grand Children, 2 Sisters Nancy (Ray) Fleming and Hannah (Tom) Mullin; brother Peter (Kathy) Runge Sr.; partner Gwen Foulkes; nieces & nephews; and his dog Teo.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, John Kenneth Fleming, CRD; and his dogs over the years Smokey, Bill Dog, Candy, Arko, Buddy, Axel, and Ricky.
