Henrietta Bernice Dengler Moore, 91, of Bettendorf, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Iowa Masonic Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 Monday, December 16, 2013 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Nursing Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Henrietta was born March 8, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Lage) Dengler. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1940 and attended the University of Northern Iowa and St. Ambrose. She taught school for 33 years in several Scott County schools and retired in 1984 after 13 years of employment at Pleasant Valley High School.
She was married to Daniel H. Moore in 1942. He passed away in 2004. They farmed during their married life in Scott County, Iowa for over 60 years retiring in 2000. She was Treasurer for Scott Buyers, Inc. for many years and served on the Board of Directors for the Center of Aging Seniors (CASI).
She enjoyed square dancing and line dancing. Her husband called square dancing and Henrietta did the instructing. They enjoyed wintering in Mission, TX.
Survivors include her children: Patricia Hills, Quincy IL and Linda (Richard) Neri, Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Cyndi Bormann, LeClaire, Suzanne (Eric) Booher, Quincy, and Jennifer (Jesse) Mitchell, St. Louis; step grandchildren, David Neri and Dawn (Kevin) Adams; great grandchildren, Brendon, Brady and Isabella Bormann, Josh, Alex and Lucas Booher, and Cody Strawman; step great grandchildren, Jade and Cameron; sister, Mildred McKinney, Davenport; sister-in-law, Marilyn Dengler, Durant; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel; brother, Warren Dengler; and great grandson, Daniel Strawman.
The family wishes to send a special note of thanks to the Staff at the Iowa Masonic Nursing Home for their kindness and care given to Henrietta while she was a resident there.
