Fritz W. Homann, 90, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 4 – 7pm; funeral service will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10am both at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at National Cemetery in Rock Island following the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
Fritz was born on January 12, 1934 to Fritz and Mabel Homann of Centerville, Iowa. He attended a one room schoolhouse in Wayne County, Iowa until 8th grade, he graduated from the Seymour, Iowa High School in 1951. Following high school, Fritz joined the United States Army; he served during the Korean War. Later he was a civilian equipment specialist during the VietNam War . He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1989. Fritz was united in marriage to Dianne Bisbee on July 12, 1974. He enjoyed many outdoor activities and collecting guns. Fritz enjoyed rock collecting, polishing, and jewelry making. He was a member of many outdoor organizations in the Quad Cities. Fritz was a member of the Blue Grass American Legion and proudly served in the Honor Guard. He was also a 50 year member of the Davenport Masonic Lodge #37. Fritz loved his dogs and the opportunity to volunteer. Most of all, Fritz enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 49 years, Dianne; sons Bill, Mike, and Rob; cousins Sandy (Ed) Winborn, Ron (Cheryl) Mau, and Joyce (Mannie) Rowe; along with special friends Carol Herington, Ron Papers, and Bob and Wilma Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son David, and sister Susann Homann Clark.
