Fred Grant Meyer

Fred was the son of Clarence and Mabel (Van Blair) Meyer. He was born January 2, 1943, in Davenport, IA, and was raised on the family farm in Big Rock, IA. He graduated from Wheatland High School, Wheatland, IA.

He was married to Judith Seifert on March 1, 1964. Fred mastered many careers from farming to over the road truck driving. Fred had many friends and enjoyed having coffee at McDonalds while living in Blue Grass, IA. Fred had a sharp sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke or a bad one. He loved spending time with friends and family. Many “stories” will be repeated and remembered by all. He liked a sip of Crown Royal and Vitamin “A”. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and left many woodworking projects for his family. He enjoyed RFD TV, Home Improvement Shows and a good polka. Although moving to Alabama, Iowa will always be home to Fred and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; and children, Timothy (Sheri) Meyer of AL, Jeffery (Janet) Meyer of IA, and Susan (Mark) Hendricks of AL. Also, grandchildren: Brittany (Dustin) Cuellar of TX, Colton Meyer of AL, Reese Meyer of IA, Carissa Hardy Meyer of IA, Lindsay (Ken) Asta of IA, SGT Marquis Hendricks US Marines, and Colin Hayes of IA; four great grandchildren, and cousins in Oklahoma and Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the family. Please No Flowers due to travel considerations.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday (1/25) at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation is 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, with internment at Blue Grass Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.
