Floyd “Tony” Belton, Jr., 83 of Davenport, died Saturday, January 19, 2013. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Tony was born July 7, 1929 in Tallula, IL, the son of Floyd and Freda (Epperly) Belton. He served over fifty years as an operating engineer and business agent for Operating Engineers Local #150 prior to his retirement. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Davenport American Legion Post #26, KWVA Korean War Vets and the KAABA Shrine. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Those left to honor his memory include his son, Michael (Pamela) Belton, Keokuk, IA; grandsons, Richard L. Gregory, Clinton, IA; August D. Gregory, Keokuk, IA and Brandon Belton, Waianae, HI; four great grandchildren and a brother, Cecil “Bud” Belton, Springfield, IL. His parents, daughter Sheila K. Gregory and sisters, Dorothy Taft and Shirley Barbie preceded him in death.
