Everett was born November 11, 1933, son of Jesse and Gladys Owens. He graduated from Fillmore High School in 1951. Everett served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954. Everett was united in marriage to Elna Wilson December 18, 1954. He was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Decatur, Illinois, Central Park Baptist Church in Davenport, and New Life Baptist Church in Davenport. He is presently a member of New Life Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and music director for many years.
Everett worked in Decatur, Illinois for several years before starting at Caterpillar in 1962. From there, he was transferred to the Davenport plant in 1965 and retired in 1986 after 24 years of service. Everett worked at First Star Bank for 16 years until his retirement in 2006. Following retirement, he coached boys' baseball for 25 years in Decatur, Illinois and Eldridge, Iowa.
Survivors include wife Elna; sons: David (Lori) of Davenport, Brian (Sonja) Warner Robins, GA; daughters: Vicki (Bob) Conner, Sharon (Abe) Camp, Jeni Howland, all of Davenport; sister Betty Cranfill of Auburn, IL, 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jesse Jr., Chester, and Jimmie; sisters: Mary Lou Rhodes and twin sister Evelyn.
