Elder Ernest L. Mayes

Memorial services for Elder Ernest L. Mayes, 66, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Pentecostal Church of God, 1234 Ripley St., Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Mayes passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his residence. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Ernest Leroy Mayes was born on May 16, 1947 in Dickson, TN, the son of Hollis and Georgia (Jones) Mayes. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Ernest worked in building and grounds maintenance at the Quality Inn in Davenport. He is survived by his Wife: Willie Mayes of Houston, TX; his loving and devoted Son: Jason (Vernice) Mayes of Rock Island, IL three Step-children: Timothy Cole of TX, Pamela Valentine of TN, Sheila (Billy) Cole-Hood of TX; two Sisters: Elaine (Ricky) Newsom, Amanda (Ed) Edwards, both of Dickson, TN; three Brothers: Preston Mayes of Dickson, TN, Matthew Mayes of NC, Richard Mayes of Moline, IL; Sister-in-Law: Alexis Mayes of Nashville, TN; devoted Friends: Glen and Colette Vesey of Davenport; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
