Dorothy L. Davis, 83, of Davenport, Iowa; passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 after a brief illness. Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be made to Temple Baptist Church.
Dorothy was born on May 22, 1937 to Ed and Mary Freeman in Maryanna, Arkansas. Following high school, she married Charles E. Davis in 1962; he preceded her in death. Dorothy and Charles moved to the Quad City area in 1973 and raised their daughter Vickey. For over 30 years, Dorothy worked at Humility of Mary Center as a kitchen aide. She loved her job and the special relationships she formed with the sister’s. Following her retirement, Dorothy was still very busy. She was a very active and faithful member in her church, Temple Missionary Baptist for over 35 years. She was a proud member of the Usher Board, Mission, Pastor’s aide, and the church custodian. She took pride in keeping the church clean. Dorothy also enjoyed serving hot dogs and snacks for everyone to enjoy after Sunday School, every Sunday.
Dorothy loved God, her family and her Church. She was always willing to help everyone. She will be truly missed.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughter Vickey Davis; granddaughter Dorrian Davis; St Louis, MO, one sister Izona Patton-Davis; St Louis, MO, one sister in law Queen Ester Ellison, Kansas City, MO and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Eddie Freeman, Pete Price and two sisters, Eddie Mae Wilson and Earlene Price.
