David was born September 12, 1943 in Iowa, the son of James Erwin and Mary Virginia (Parish) Baird. He worked at Bishop’s Cafeteria where he met his wife Marge Johnson. She preceded him in death.
He was also employed in the environmental services department at Genesis West, the former Mercy Hospital for 41 years prior to retiring. David never missed a day of work in his career. He never learned to drive due to having tunnel vision and rode the city bus every day. He loved to golf, bike, go on car rides in Ken Parish’s red T-Bird convertible, traveling in his earlier years, going swimming at the YMCA, spending time with his great nephews and was known to be very frugal with his money.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Deborah (William) Bishel, Pt. Byron, IL, nieces: Jennifer (Ryan) Boling, LeClaire and Kathryn (Michael) Soucek, Northfield, MN; nephew, William Bishel, Chandler, AZ; seven great nieces/nephews and close family friend, David Crocker, Davenport.
His parents preceded him in death.
