A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made in his honor to HDC or Trinity Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Daniel was born May 27, 1928 in Dallas, SD. One of ten children born to Daniel D. and Adele Mehner. He graduated from Dallas High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in accounting from the University of South Dakota. He worked for three years at the Dallas Elevator. Dan spent four years in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from college, Dan worked for five years as a Federal Credit Union Examiner in Gary, IN, and Detroit, MI. He was married to Joan Roddewig in Davenport, IA in 1958. They moved to Davenport in 1962. Four children were born to this union. Joan passed away in 1995. Dan transferred to the U.S. Army Weapons Command in 1952 and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1983. He was married to Mary Martens on September 5, 1999 they moved to Sun City West in 2000. He was a member of Crown Life Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and 4 children, Daniel M. (Julie) Mehner, David Mehner (deceased), James Mehner, and Carol Brabant all of Davenport, IA. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchild, 4 step children, Barry Martens, Lori (Will) Hoff, Terry (Lindy) Martens, Corey (Kelly) Martens, 13 step grandchildren, and 1 step great grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by 9 siblings, and grandchild, Zachary Haut.
