Daniel Butler Martin, III, 60, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.
Daniel was born March 7, 1963 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was the son of Daniel Butler Jr. and Colleen (Taylor) Martin. He married Linda Stewart Schebler on September 28, 2007 in Bettendorf.
Dan received his Bachelor Degree in English Literature and Political Science from Middle Tennessee State University and attained his Master’s Degree in Education at age 53 from Iowa State University.
He started his working career as an executive for Cox Cable in Asheville, NC where he was greatly involved with their downtown Rotary Club having served as President. He then owned his own consulting business and moved to Iowa around 2005. His career here started at Volt Temp Services, part of John Deere and he worked there for three years. He became Director of the Blong Technical Center, part of Eastern Iowa Community College, and served for four years. Following that he served as Dean of Industrial Technology at Kirkwood College for five years and most recently spent the last 2 ½ years as a Program Manager for PSMI based in Michigan for John Deere Works Factory.
In his free time, he loved to entertain and cook. There were many get-togethers with family and friends and dinners on the patio that he enjoyed hosting. He also was a Master Gardener. Most of all, Daniel was a devoted husband and step-father and loved his several dogs and cats over the years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda, stepdaughters: Rachel (Jordan) Fenton, Davenport and Amanda (Blake) Ellinor, Dubuque, step-grandchildren: Evie and Vivi Fenton and Asher and Boden Ellinor; siblings: Kay (Doug) Taylor and David Martin, all of Texas and Jill (Walt) DuPrê; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Eric (Kathy) Stewart, Dwight, IL; mother-in-law, Anna Mae Stewart, Bettendorf and his beloved dog, Ellie. His mother and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Martin preceded him in death.
