Clifford E. Wilson, 87, of Davenport passed away, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Davenport. Funeral service will be at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2013 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, October 25, 2013 at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Clifford was born on a farm in Bremer County, Iowa March 23, 1926, the son of Craig and Iva Losee Wilson. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1944. He then served with the 9 Infantry Division in Europe during World War II until 1946, attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the victory medal, European Theater Ribbon with one battle star, 2 overseas bars, Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He lived in Waterloo until moving to Davenport in 1994. Clifford worked as a foreman for the Rath Packing Co., for 27 years, and worked as a carpenter for the rest of his working years.
His favorite hobby was flying. He was a member of the experimental aircraft association at Oshkosh, Wisconsin and a life member of V.F. W. Post 26 and AMVETS.
Survived by wife, Delores Jeanne Randall, Davenport; two sisters: Ruby Whipkey of Rock Falls, IL, Gladys Beck of Champagne, IL; children, Craig (Sharon) Wilson of Clarks Summit, PA, Joyce (Lyle) Stout of Dunkerton, IA, Dale (Diana) Wilson of Hutchinson, KS, Rebecca (Michael) Chandler of Lees Summit, MO; step children: Marilyn (Arnie) Williamson of Davenport and Randall Miller of Minneapolis, MN; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; two sisters, Helen Hicks of Waverly and Ila Mae Ackers of Janesville, brother, Larry of Waterloo
