Cheryll K. Wilkinson

Cheryll Kay Wilkinson, 69, of Davenport died Thursday June 30, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island Medical Center following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 10A.M, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at The Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the mortuary. Cheryll was born August 18, 1941 in Slater, IA., the daughter of Arnold and Marvel (Skola) Hermann. She was united in marriage to Lonny Wilkinson on February 18, 1966 in Granite City, MO. He survives.

Cheryll graduated from Madrid H.S. in 1959. She later obtained a B.S. in Science from Iowa State University and a Master of Science Education in 1986 from Western Illinois University. Cheryll taught briefly in Marshalltown, Iowa and Rockford, Illinois. Lonny and Cheryll moved to Davenport in 1969. Cheryll taught for the Davenport Community School District for many years, retiring in 2003 from Walcott Junior High. Cheryll enjoyed quilting, following the Cubs and the Cyclones, and her dogs. Mostly she loved spending time with and caring for her family.

Cheryll is survived by her husband, Lonny; her children. Theresa Schlichting (Ed Sbertoli), Bettendorf, Timothy Wilkinson, Davenport, Ted (Julie) Wilkinson, Bettendorf, Tammy (Ryan) Loecher, West Des Moines, Tracy (Scott) Lansing, Blue Grass; her grandchildren, Kolton and Kayla Schlichting, Dan and Ben Wilkinson, Nathan and Kaitlyn Loecher, Paige and Brock Lansing; and her brother Gary (Diane) Hermann, Urbandale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Hermann, and nephew Brad Hermann.
