Barb was born November 18, 1946 in Davenport, IA. Her siblings were Marian Ammons, Geri Slade, Steven Cool, Sheri Schaefer, & Scott Dittmer. In 1964 she married Robert Stanger and later that year gave birth to a son Robert who passed, but later 3 beautiful daughters Tami Jo, Brenda Sue, & Kathi. Her daughters gave her 8 grandchildren Jeff, Jon, Heather, Ben, Robbie, Cody, Brody, & Mary Kathryn; Many great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. In 2013 she married the love of her life Darrell K. Reynolds who preceded her in death in 2018.
Barb had owned & operated 3 business over the years in Davenport the Chief Tavern, the Teepee Liquor Store, and My Barbers. Barb loved camping as much as possible. Her favorite line was “Who cares, we are camping”. She created the “Crazy Ladies” to help support the Shriners and bought a limo for parades so we could throw beads to the crowd. She enjoyed bowling tournaments and nobody went hungry around her, she was always cooking something and took a Cajun cooking class while she was in Louisiana.
Every morning she would drink her coffee and do a cross word puzzle in the newspaper with her dictionary, in case she did not know a word. She always said you to have to learn something new every day.
Once while working a concession stand selling chicken on a stick, ZZ Top placed an order and Barb said it would be $8. He replied I’m ZZ Top – she then asked him if he was playing for free – he said Heck no!! She said it will be $8.
She always took care of the girls, even when she lived in Arkansas and she drove to Iowa just to make sure her grandchildren had what they needed. Her friends were also very important to her. She loved to meet up with them at the bar to have “just one more”. They were more than friends, they were family, and always will be.
