Arthur L. (Art) Miller, 80, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at home with his wife, 3 daughters and his precious dog HyDee at his side. All services at Runge Mortuary with Visitation on Thursday, Oct. 27, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Funeral on Friday, October 28, 12:00 p.m. noon. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.
Art was born to Richard E. and Jean P. Miller October 4, 1942 in Davenport. He married Melinda Lou Stamos December 30, 1961 at First Baptist Church, Davenport.
Art graduated from Davenport West High School in 1961, Muscatine Community College in 1973, St. Ambrose University in 1975. He and Melinda were very active in planning and participating in every West High School class reunion since graduation.
Art served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965, serving as a Military Policeman and K-9 Handler. He worked at the former Farmall Plant, the Davenport Police Department, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office from 1975, as the director of 911 communications, records, filing and research, until his retirement in 2004.
Art was active with First Baptist Church, Davenport, serving on the Church Council and other functions. He enjoyed wood working, helping his family with both destruction and construction projects, and attending functions for, and with, his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Melinda, daughters Pamela (Tim) Lindell, Diane (Craig) Petersen, Kimber (Dave) Monty, grandchildren Jacob (Sherry) Lindell, Alyson (Ryan) Haglund, Jessyca (Brandon) Butler, AJ (Sarah) Petersen, Jacen (fiancé Drew) Petersen, Alexys (Scott) Heston, great grandchildren Adyson & Kamdyn Haglund, Colton, Sadie and Alec Lindell, Sawyer Petersen and Landen Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, triplet children Michael, Mark, and Michelle, his brother Steven, grandson Aaron Lindell and great grandson Kyler Haglund.
