Albert George Van Mechelen

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 1-4 pm at The Runge Mortuary. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Albert was born in Davenport on July 14, 1930. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Darlene Holt on April 2, 1955 in Trenton, MO. He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years, retiring in 1986. After retirement, Albert and his wife ran two RV parks in Mission, TX. He enjoyed golfing, bingo, playing cards and pool in his free time.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 65 years, Darlene, son, Gary, daughter, Tina (Mike) Metcalf; grandchildren: Eric (Abbi), Justin (Jessie), Josh, Elizabeth and Adam; great grandchildren: Dawson, Delaney, Deacon, Drayden, Delia, Damon, Kali, Madi, Lili, Jackson, Andrew, Dylan, Caylie, Hailey, Abbi, Hannah, Allison, Shauna, Ralph and Lou; and one great- great granddaughter, Yeliah. An infant daughter, Debra Sue preceded him in death.

Albert’s family would like to thank all the sisters, nurses, and staff at the Kahl Home for all the wonderful care shown to Albert and his family for the last three years. Your kindness will never be forgotten!
