Sylvia Jane Stevens

STEVENS, Sylvia Jane (More) - 83, of Dartmouth, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital on May 21, 2024, with her son & daughter at her side. Born in Liverpool, NS, Sylvia was the daughter of the late William and Leila (Gardner) More.

She is survived by her daughter Shelby (Jamie), son Adam (Jackie), grandchildren, Brandon (Megan), Brittany (Joey), Chandler (Alesha) and great-grandchildren Skylar, Kylo, Alicent and Sebastian.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father Bernt Gordon, Aunts Marguerite Gardner & Eleanor (Harry Farncombe) and her loving sister Brenda (Chris Johnson).

Sylvia was a stay-at-home mom, dedicated to raising her children. As they got older she worked in administration & retail, spending the last 10 years of her career at the Sears Catalog Call Center where she enjoyed speaking with customers from all over Canada & making new friends. She enjoyed reading, dancing, bowling, singing in the church choir and answering all the Jeopardy questions! She was very interested in world politics and current events, always ready to engage in conversation and share her thoughts, especially on the CNN coverage.

Cremation has taken place under the care of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Homes. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the NS Mental Health Foundation.

The family would like to thank the staff from the Halifax Infirmary (8.1) and the Victoria General (9B) for the compassion & care they provided over the past four months.

Visitation with reception will be held on Thursday June 6, 2024 from 3pm-7pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Portland Street.
