Age 66, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary on May 5, 2024 with his family by his side. Arrangements are in the care of Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Born in Spryfield/Halifax, he was the son of the late Eugene and Velva (Lee) Cooper.
He is survived by his loving wife Johanna (Notten), his sister Debra Cooper, his sister-in-law Nannette LeBlanc (Peter), his niece Tressa Bodkin (Curtis), his great nieces Anna and Alia, and his “daughter” Emily Qu. He is also survived by numerous cousins in the Wambolt, Cooper, Yeadon, Crawshaw, and Lee families.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lori Wood and her entire team at the Victoria General Hospital for the exceptional care that he received throughout his cancer journey. We would also like to thank Dr. Miroslaw Radja and the cardiologists, medical residents, and nurses for the excellent care they provided at the Halifax Infirmary during his recent hospital admission. Finally, we would like to thank the first responders, doctors, and nurses who cared for him with so much compassion on his final day.
Cremation has taken place. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Steve will be remembered by his loved ones for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humour. To honour Steve’s memory, we ask that you do a good deed for someone else. If you wish, a memorial donation may be made to Hope for Wildlife or any charity of your choice.
