LANGILLE, Shirley – 92 of Dartmouth, passed away April 19, 2023 at Hospice Halifax surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Robie and Bessie Mott.
Shirley married the love of her life, Warren, on April 21, 1951 and together they built the home where they would live their shared life raising their family of four. A stay at home mother, Shirley was the heart of her family and was at her happiest when cooking and baking and entertaining all those who graced her doorstep. She was quick to smile, laughed easily and she could find grace and humour in most anything. Shirley was definitely a shopper and she loved a good party, her flower gardens were always beautiful, her dinner table always generous and she never forgot a birthday. Her kind spirit and warmth, once felt, never forgotten.
Survivors include her children, Lynda Judge, Bruce (Michelle), Sharon and Patti (Eddie) Longaphy; her eleven grandchildren, Tracy, Lisa, Kyle, Justin, Emily, Megan, Christopher, Charlene, Ryan, Connor and Lauren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law, Judy and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Warren; her siblings, Marie, Patsy and Ronnie, Louise, Clyde, Ashley and Jackie as well as her son-in-law, Bob Judge.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 10am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 9 Veterans Avenue, Dartmouth. Reception to follow in the church hall. Reverend Matthew Sponagle will be officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Shirley can be made to Hospice Halifax or St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
Special thanks to Dr. Frank MacDonald and Dr. Robyn Macfarlane for their excellent care as well as all the staff and volunteers at Hospice Halifax whose exceptional care and support during the past ten weeks was beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
