Born in Halifax on June 19, 1947, Roger was the son of George Victor Guy and Loretta Catherine (Warren) Guy. A proud alumnus of Saint Patrick’s High School and Saint Mary’s University, Roger pursued a career in accounting, where his integrity and diligence became hallmarks of his professional life. He found his niche in the automobile industry, ultimately serving as comptroller for Forbes, MacPhee, and Steele car dealerships in Dartmouth. Known for his razor-sharp wit and unwavering honesty, Roger was respected as much for his character as for his acumen.
Roger's passions in life were as varied as they were vibrant. He grew up at the Waegwaltic Club and became an accomplished tennis player, competing avidly across Nova Scotia, and earning numerous
singles and doubles titles over the years. His love of cars extended far beyond the professional, as he delighted in driving and fine-tuning both his hobby cars and new models fresh off the lot. In his later years, he discovered a passion for boating, which added another layer to his many leisure pursuits.
Ever the hands-on craftsman, Roger could often be found with his sleeves rolled up, immersed in home improvements on his house in Crichton Park or his cherished cottage in Tatamagouche. Whether it was on the tennis court, behind the wheel, on the water, or with tools in hand, Roger embraced life with energy and enthusiasm.
Above all else, Roger’s heart belonged to his family. He was the steadfast anchor of his wife Ann’s dedication to serving others and the unwavering champion of his children’s education and dreams. His love and pride for his family were boundless, expressed in his patient guidance, heartfelt laughter, and selfless support. Whether offering a helping hand, a kind word, or his signature dry humor, Roger’s presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his loving children, Julie and Peter; his brother, George; his granddaughter, Emi; his niece, Lesley; his nephews, Cary and Stuart; and their extended families. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Marie (Baker) Guy; his parents; his half-sister, Charlotte Jeffries; his half-brothers, Ross and Tom Guy; and his uncles, Walter and Joseph Warren.
A service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 3rd at Saint Peter’s Church in Dartmouth. Details will follow regarding a separate celebration of his life.
In honor of Roger’s memory, donations may be made to Brooklyn Boatworks, a youth development organization he was proud to support.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. His generosity of spirit, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to his family will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
