It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, nanny, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Patricia “Pat” Anne Colter of Dartmouth on June 11, 2024 in the Palliative Care unit at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
The eldest of 6 children, Pat was born in Kentville, NS on August 1, 1941 to Ethel (Henry) and Lloyd Greene. Pat lived most of her life in Dartmouth where she met and married the love of her life, James “Jimmy”.
In her younger years, Pat paddled for Banook Canoe Club. She taught Sunday School and CGIT in the United Church before joining Christ Church with Jim where she was a member of the ACW and Altar Guild. Pat and her sisters formed a tight bond through their love of quilting and found immense joy in pouring their love into these treasures that will last a lifetime to all who were fortunate enough to receive them. Pat was also a 2-time breast cancer survivor.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Lloyd Greene; husband, James Colter; eldest son, David Colter; sisters, Karen King, Leah (Don) Trider, Ellen Pohlmann and Marlene Campbell and brother-in-law, Peter Thackray. She is survived by son, Gary (Patricia) Colter; daughter, Shelley (Dave) Colter; brother, Lloyd (Heather) Greene; daughter-in-law, Daniela Colter; sister-in-law, Judy Thackray; brothers-in-law, Dave Campbell, Werner Pohlmann and Eric King; grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, Amanda, Sean, Lauren, Liam and Julia; great-grandchildren, Bruce, Louie and Wesley as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses and doctors at the Dartmouth General for making Pat comfortable in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS or the Canadian Cancer Society.
