Drury, Mary - passed away July 25, 2013 at Jameson Hall in Dartmouth. Born in Saint John NB, she was the daughter of Mabel McAvity and the Rev John A MacKeigan. She spent her early years in Moosejaw, moving to Halifax as a young girl. She graduated with a BA from Dalhousie in 1943 . Following a year working at the Canadian embassy in Washington, she married and moved to Dartmouth in 1950 where she raised her family. She was an avid reader.
Among other things Mom enjoyed bowling with friends, playing bridge, swimming and skating at Lake Banook. Many sandcastles were built and cookies made under her watchful care. Mary lived a long and full life with wonderful friendships, much loved children and grandchildren. Survived by her daughters Janet Drury, Cathy McKelvey ( Roger), grandchildren Ian and Patrick McKelvey, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stewart Drury, daughters Margaret and Elizabeth, brothers Ian and Don MacKeigan. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm Wednesday July 31, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland Street. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. A special thanks to Christine Sheaves for her friendship and care.
