EISENER, Marion – of Dartmouth, passed away on June 4, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Dartmouth, She was the 4th child and first of two daughters of Charles and Elfreda (Baker) Eisener. Aunt Marion lived a happy, carefree childhood with her siblings and friends. Coasting down the hill of Glenwood Avenue, skating on the lake in winter and swimming in the summer. Church was always an integral part of their lives. She was a lady of great faith all her life and attended First Baptist of Dartmouth and also Stevens Road more recently. She attended a one room school at Port Wallis (now the United Church) and then Dartmouth High. She entered the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a R. N. in 1949. She took some time to travel and worked as a private duty nurse for a couple of years before joining the staff in June 1952 at Camp Hill D. V. A. Hospital. She became Head nurse on 3N and worked there until she retired in December 1980. Aunt Marion lived a rich and full life with many interests and hobbies; photography (even developing her own pictures), knitting, leatherwork, ceramics, gardening, walking, hiking parks, woods, trails, beaches and she loved dogs especially her two poodles: Candy and then Heidi. Aunt Marion was advidly interested in life, a great champion of family. She loved them all with fierce loyalty, right down to the newest little great grand nieces and nephews. She was blessed with the most wonderful neighbors who formed a tight little community around her and seemed to fight to shovel her snow! She was a great historian with a keen memory of the past. You never visited her without coming away with a little nugget of history. She was always a very independent lady with a strong sense of right and wrong and always with an opinion! Just recently she started to lose some of that independence. Her car, the newspaper, yardwork, gardening and then with Covid-19 even trips to the store. She was ready to go, firmly believing she had lived the best life here. We just weren’t ready to let her go. But, she will always live on in our hearts. She was predeceased by brothers; Norman (Catherine) Ralph (Betty), Foster (Dorothy), sister; Shirley (Preston Ross) and nephew Norman E. She was survived by many nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren. Donations in Marion’s memory may be sent to Stevens Road Baptist Church or a charity of Choice. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, at 11am in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Rev. Nelson Metcalfe officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
