Greta Evelyn Higgins

Age 90, of Eastern Passage. It is with heartful sadness that the family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother. She passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at the Halifax Infirmary. She was born in Dartmouth to Rita and Philip Mintern. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, then worked for many years for the federal government at CFB Shearwater. In retirement, Mom could be found in her gardens, which was her greatest passion, and she was well-known for it. She was a member of St.Peters Anglican Church, and Christ Church for many years, and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold (Junior) Higgins, brothers Russell and Earl Mintern, and sister Marjorie Manning. She is survived by her children, Ross (Christa) and Karen (Robert) Kavanaugh; her grandchildren, Tyler and Shane Higgins, Aimee (Hugues) Mackay and Nicole (Joe) Perry; her great-grandchildren Saylor, Sam, Adelyn, Jack and Emme-Rose. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dolores (Dolly) and Jennifer Mintern. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at 8.2 for their support and care in her final days. Funeral Service is Tuesday, October 22nd, at 11:00 am at St Peters Anglican Church in Eastern Passage.
