Donald "Papa" Power

Power, Donald Raymond “Papa”-82, of Dartmouth passed away on September 8, 2013 in the Dartmouth General Hospital with his daughter and granddaughters at his side. Born in French Village, NS he was the son of the late Harold and Marjorie (Hubley) Power.

Donald enjoyed a 35 year career with Imperial Oil as a truck driver and was very proud of the fact that he was accident free throughout his entire career. Papa was a wonderful piano player and also loved a good game of cards. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leaf fan. His grandchildren, great grandchildren and many of the children in the neighborhood could always count on him having a supply of candy in his home. He was happiest when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Blaine Hill; daughters, Shelley Power (Jeff) and Marjorie Henderson; sister, Marlene Lane (Denis); grandchildren, Ryan, Kenneth, Raymond, Melissa, Tara, Ashley, Timmy, Kayla, Ryan, Bradley and Kathryn; great grandchildren, Chase, Joshwa, Alijah, Tyler, Alora, and Ariahna. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Dean) Power and daughter, Bonnie Power.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday September 13 and a memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday September 14 both from A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS. Interment will follow in Musquodoboit Community Cemetery.
