POWER, Basil William “Bill” - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad 81 year old Basil William Power on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born March 7, 1939 in NFLD he was the son of the late Alex Stacey and Mary Power. As a young man he left Newfoundland for Nova Scotia to join the military which he served for three years. Once discharged and after a few other ventures his thirst for adventure and travel led him to the open road where he spent the next 50 years behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler traveling the country where he became known as "Wild Bill" Power. He resided in Dartmouth for the last 40 years with his late wife Deborah Rose Power (Mrs. Happy Face). Dad was well known in the downtown corridor as a local resident, family man and business owner. In the 70s and 80s he owned and operated with the help of Vicki and Tony a well known all night diner "The Little Truck Stop". He sold his home on Wentworth Street after Debbie passed and took up residence at Kings Warf in December where he enjoyed the last six months still enjoying the great downtown waterfront. He and his late wife were members of the Rock Church, Lower Sackville. He will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by children; Vicki MacRae (Joe Gamble) Five Islands, Leisa Morel (Eddy) Fort McMurray, AB., Tony Power (Carol Banfield) Enfield NS. Terry Power (Lisa Morash) Valmont, BC., Tammy Hubley (Rick) Bridgewater, NS., brother; Keith Dunn, Dartmouth, NS., sister; Cathy Walsh, NFLD. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased wife; Deborah Rose Power, son; Gregory Power, granddaughter; Courtney Morash, grandson; Joshua (Bubby) Power.
