Lynn Tripp Coleman

Lynn Tripp Coleman, 54 of Weston, Mass., passed away on May 11th, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Lynn was a warm, graceful and generous person, who adored her loving parents, Robert and Angela Tripp of Dartmouth and her sister Carol Tripp Tebo of Worcester. Lynn leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, including the Burke family of Dartmouth and her adored god daughters Madeline Emma McGuire, 11, of Hopkinton and Riley Rose Serpa, 3 of Winchester. Lynn was blessed with many dear friends, especially Valerie McGuire of Hopkinton and the late Sister Therese Higgins.

Born in Newburyport, MA, Lynn spent her early years in New Bedford and Dartmouth and later moved to Weston in 1977. Lynn graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1973, Regis College in 1977 with a degree in social work. She earned a Master’s Degree in higher education administration from Suffolk University in 1988.

For over three decades, Lynn served within the Student Affairs Office of Regis College in Weston, Mass., most recently as Vice President, Student Affairs. This year, Regis College instituted the Lynn Tripp Coleman Grace and Dignity Award, an annual award in recognition of Lynn’s [leadership, quiet dedication and grace]. Lynn continued to work in the capacity as Vice President until the time of her passing.

Her passions included reading, vacationing in Florida, the Caribbean and Harwichport, MA. Most importantly Lynn loved the birth of spring flowers, the warmth of the sun on her skin, the summer sounds of the ocean and the Harwichport hydrangeas. She thrived on spending time with family including her extended family within the Regis College Community.

The family extends there grateful thanks to Dr. Merha Golshan, Dr. Eric Winer and all of the caring staff of Dana 9 and 10 for their provision of exceptional care, humanity and treatment and for what Lynn referred to as the “bonus” year for which she was happily grateful.

She was pre-deceased in life by her paternal grandparents, Mr. Kenneth M. Tripp of Fall River and Mrs. Elizabeth (Tripp) Parkinson of Fall River and Somerset, her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen A. Gardella of Fall River, and her beloved god

mother Mrs. Gertrude (Gardella) Oliveira of Swansea.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours on Sunday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Breast Oncology Center, Department of Medical Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115-6084.Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
