Thomas Dyer, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2017 at The Gardens, Danbury, CT surrounded by his family. He was married to his wife Jinx (Leeds) Dyer. He was a loving father to his daughter Kim Dyer.
Tom was born on Sept. 1, 1938 and grew up in Danbury. He attended Danbury Schools and played Little League. He was a 1958 graduate of Henry Abbott Tech and a graduate Western CT State University. Tom served in the US Army and was a Ridgefield Police Officer for 33 years, retiring in 1999.
Tom was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and belonged to the Danbury Police Benevolent Association, Danbury PAL, the Danbury Westerners, Catholic War Veterans and the Irish-American Cultural Center. Tom was inducted into the Henry Abbott Hall of Fame as well as recipient of the Danbury Old Timers Award.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Tom is survived by his step-daughters Kendal James-Conneely (Patrick), Kasey Hill (Christian) and Karry Bell (Michael); 11 grandchildren; Thor Jr., Briana, Tori, Kaci, Kourtney, Keira, Cooper, Cole, Ryan, Kylie and Kate; his brother, Robert Dyer, and his wife, Joan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra (Knox) Dyer, who was the mother of his two daughters; his second wife, Jerilyn (Pasquariello) Dyer; his daughter Aileen (Dyer) Svege; his son-in-law Thor Svege Sr.
Tom had a heart of gold and was devoted to his family and the community.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Friends will be received from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
