Roy was born in Manhattan, NY on January 20, 1944, the eldest son of Walter and Muriel Carena, and was a graduate of James Monroe High School. He spent most of his career with Western Electric (later, Lucent) and for many years was an elected representative as a union delegate with Local 1190 of the Communications Workers of America.
He was active with St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Bronx and served for years on the church council as well as leading a scout troop. A lifelong resident of the Bronx until relocating to Connecticut in 2022, he and Inge also enjoyed their winters at their home in Ft. Meyers, FL
Roy is survived by his stepson, Perry Green (Mayra); his grandchildren: Casey Leigh, Christopher, Erik, Eric, Michael, and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Alan (Valerie) Carena; Linda Carena; and Lori (Paul) Carena-Gravelle. His nieces and nephews including: Danny, Rachel, Gina, Samantha, Jonathan, Peter, Christopher and Nicholas.
A Memorial Service and interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY will be held at a date and time to be announced.
