On February 15, 2024, our beloved Mom, Rosemary Ann Quinlan (nee Grealish) departed this life and entered Heaven. Rosemary was born to Emily (“Jo”) Stark and Eugene Grealish in Queens Village, New York, on October 5, 1937. Our mother was one of seven children. After an idyllic childhood, Mom graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens and shortly thereafter entered a magical four years as singer Perry Como’s fan mail secretary at CBS studios, Rockefeller Center, in New York City.
Our Mother was always a very industrious and resourceful woman, particularly after becoming a single Mom in the mid-1970s to her four children. She was an administrative secretary in the corporate world for many years, putting her talent for organizing and prioritizing to good use. Mom sometimes held down two jobs in order to keep her family together and thriving. She worked hard to move her children forward.
Mom was very artistic and creative. She painted and sewed beautifully, decorated cozy havens for us at home, and bargain-hunted avidly with her cherished girlfriends, always looking for useful treasures. Mom’s greatest love, though, was music. When we were growing up, she filled our house to the rafters with her gorgeous soprano. A highlight for her (and those around her) was singing her heart out each year at Midnight Mass at St. James and later St. John’s.
Memories of Rosemary will forever be cherished by her loving children: Rosemary Quinlan, Rob Quinlan (Jane), Maureen Kuron (Robert), and Eileen McGuire (Raymond). Rosemary was also a devoted grandma to Sean (Rachel), Cameron (Jessica), Robbie, Kelly, Brian, and Nelly, and great grandma to Avery Jane, whose portrait she faithfully blew kisses to each morning.
Visitation for Rosemary will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Ave., Danbury. Committal will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.
