Rita was born on July 12, 1933, to Frederick George Duprat and Blandine (Burrell) Duprat, in Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1951.
In 1955, Rita met Livio Allegrezza at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and they were married in 1956. They moved to Georgetown, Connecticut and then to New Fairfield, where they raised two children, George Nicholas Allegrezza and Tina Marie Allegrezza.
After a career as a homemaker and a technician at Danbury Hospital, Rita retired in 1996. Her great passion was her family, her close neighbors, and dear friends, and tending the gardens that she and Livio cultivated at their New Fairfield home over the years. She was an avid birdwatcher and faithful friend to many. She frequented the Goodie Shoppe in New Fairfield for years with a large circle of friends and was a long-time fundraiser for Regional Hospice. To all who knew her, Rita was a bright light and always sparkled.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Livio, and her brothers John and Frederick. She is survived by her son George and his wife Leslie, of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, her daughter Tina (Allegrezza) O’Connell and her husband, Raymond, of Bethel, Connecticut, and her grandchildren Lauren M. Allegrezza of Ridgewood, New York, and Kimberly B. Wheeler and Kelsey N. Wheeler of Brookline, Massachusetts.
