Marie was born in Danbury, CT to the late Michael DeFazio Sr. and Antoinette Gallo on April 21,1937. Marie graduated from Danbury High School, went on to receive her hairdresser license, then married John “Leo” Cahill Jr. on June 6, 1959. Marie was very social and loved talking on the phone and spending time with her dearest friends, shopping, going out to dinner, and traveling with her late husband, “Leo”. Marie also enjoyed reading a good book and crocheting, but most of all, Marie cherished all of her time spent with her grandchildren throughout the years. From science talks to exquisite tea parties; Marie’s grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy and loved them dearly.
Marie is preceded in death by her late husband, John “Leo” Cahill Jr., her parents, Michael and Antoinette DeFazio and her brother Michael DeFazio Jr.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Patricia Cahill, Mary Ann (Charlie) Williams and Laurie (Jim) Spencer. Grandchildren, Alton and Ava Spencer, several nieces and nephews and close family friend “Gigi”.
Calling hours will be held at Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, CT at 10am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. A private burial will take place at a later time.
