John was born on May 29, 1927 in Albemarle/New London, NC and grew up working on the family farm. He was one of eight children and is survived by his sister Alene M. Lowder-Brooks. He worked for his brother James D. Lowder as a meat packer in North Carolina and as a butcher for the Evergood Meat Company in Hoboken, NJ.
John proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. John was stationed in Guam and Guantanamo Bay, serving on both the U.S.S. Missouri and the U.S.S. New Jersey.
John married the love of his life Rosetta E. Boccia, in 1953. The couple first met as pen pals while John was stationed in the Navy during WWII. The couple was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Geraldine and Joanne.
John and Rosetta spent 48 years in Yonkers before relocating to Bethel 5 years ago to be closer to their family.
John was a hardworking and light-hearted man. He was very proud of his family and was excited to become "Pop” to his 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. John will always be remembered for his ability to brighten up a room. He had an infectious smile and incredible sense of humor.
John was the beloved husband of Rosetta E. Lowder, devoted father of the late Geraldine Hogan and her husband Dennis, Joanne Labadia and her husband Jerry, loving “Pop” to Jerry Labadia, his wife Amanda, and their two sons Jerry and Dylan, Janine Raymond and her husband Dan, Joe Labadia, his wife Jill, and their daughters Isabelle and the late Emmalee Quinn, and Michael Hogan, and “Uncle Bud” to all of his nieces and nephews.
