Eleanor M. Elias

Eleanor M. Elias, 84, of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Eleanor was born June 24, 1937, in Danbury to the late Michael and Mary Zelensky.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Charles G. Elias. Eleanor is also survived by her three children; Susan Morton and husband Patrick of Bethel, Robert Elias and wife Elaine of Newtown, James Elias and wife Joanne of Brookfield; as well as six grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole (and fiancé Adam), Daniel, Erin, Matthew, and Ryan; several beloved nieces, nephews, and grand-dog Phoebe. Eleanor had two brothers and sister-in-law’s who she leaves behind; Michael and Gladys Zelensky of Tarrytown, NY, and Joseph, Shelia Zelensky of St. Mary's, GA as well as the late Lois Zelensky.

Eleanor graduated from Bethel High School and soon thereafter received her Associate's Degree. She was a homemaker and always placed her family above all else. For many years she was a Trustee of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Danbury, a member of Sacred Heart Women’s Guild, and the past President of AARP Chapter of Danbury. She thoroughly enjoyed being an active member of the community. Eleanor enjoyed traveling around the world with her girls and vacationing with family. You could find her on a cruise, on the beach, or exploring a new city. She was UConn Women’s Basketball #1 fan, an avid reader, and will always be remembered as a woman of integrity, strength, compassion, unwavering faith, and a deep love for family.

Calling hours will be held at Green Funeral Home in Danbury, CT on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church of Danbury on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 10 AM. Burial to take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury.
