Chris was born March 31, 1968 in Bethel, the son of the late John L. And Carol (Bloom) Kovacs. He was a graduate of Bethel High School Class of 1987, and relocated with his family to Florida for a brief period before returning to Connecticut. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degrees in Psychology with a minor in history from Western CT State University.
Chris was employed by Stop and Shop Supermarkets from 1987 until the time of his illness, earning various promotions up to assistant store manager. In 2004, he married the love of his life Laura, and together they would be married 17 years in December. In his younger years, Chris played drums with a few local bands, enjoyed heavy metal music, vinyl and cd’s, was a fan of the Yankees and Giants, and doing podcasts with his buddy.
In addition to his wife Laura, Chris is survived by his mother and father in law, Francis and Judy Toth of New Fairfield, his sisters in law Alison Toth MD of Durham, NC, and Leslie Foerster, her husband Kurt and their son Gregory of Murrell’s Inlet SC, his core family/ friends Joe and Angie, Pete and Jenny, Paul and Erin, Rob and Stacy, Charlie and Michelle, along with cousins Ellen Bloom Dobson, Tracy Bloom Smith, Michael Bloom, Peter and John Myslinski, and a host of acquaintances met throughout the years.
Chris was predeceased by his brother David Kovacs , who died in 1977.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside committal service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday November 6th at Saint Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
