Yvonne Margarita Santos, age 52, was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in Rowlett, TX. Yvonne was born on March 15, 1972, in Bexar County, Texas, to Gilberto and Francisca Santos. Yvonne was one of six children. She was very close to her mother who passed away in 2008. Yvonne grew up in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Sunset High School where she met her first husband of 15 years, Juan Hernandez. Yvonne and Juan have three beautiful kids, Juan Jr., Alec, and Cristian. They were her pride and joy. She would have done anything for them. She was a resourceful parent and ensured her children never went without, she would hand-make the best Halloween costumes that people still remember fondly. Yvonne was as fierce and protective as a mother tiger with cubs when it came to her children. She would not cower or hold back if anyone ever attempted to wrong them. Every conversation included her telling people a story of how proud she was of her children's accomplishments.
As a sister, she was ingenious in her ability to literally scare the pee out of you one moment and then make you laugh immediately after. Her delivery was the best. She was brilliant and a true trickster. At the same time she also had a softer side. She would not hesitate to give you her last dollar. She was always dependable even while dealing with her own struggles. In addition, her devotion to family in general was endless. Yvonne loved family gatherings; there would be no way she was going to miss them for anything. Her love did not stop there. If her sons were unable to come along she would make it a point to bring them back a plate of food. She wasn’t going to let them miss out.
As a daughter, Yvonne was a loving child who cared deeply for her parents in both life and death. She made it a priority to visit her late mother’s memorial site frequently; not even a tornado could prevent her from making the weekly trip. She also loved to spend time with her father and cook for him to make sure he was eating. Yvonne provided companionship in whatever way her father needed. Sometimes that meant being a friend he could take to the casino and just have fun with. Other times it was being a caregiver and making sure his health was attended to (whether he liked it or not).
As a tía, Yvonne was cherished and treasured. Her nieces and nephews often called her their second mom. Whether it was a place to stay, transportation, or just someone to confide in, Yvonne was ready to assist. Yvonne was overwhelmingly thoughtful when it came to her nieces and nephews. When asked how they would describe her, these words frequently came up; kind, considerate, and loving. She loved and valued each and every niece and nephew as much as her own children. She wished for peace, happiness and success for them all.
As a wife, Yvonne was absolutely perfect. She was the most supportive and understanding wife throughout her marriage with Jessie. No matter the circumstances, Yvonne was there by Jessie’s side offering words of encouragement to help him achieve his hopes and dreams. She offered a heart filled with eternal love. Together Yvonne and Jessie took on the endless hurdles of life as a team, helping each other get back up no matter the challenge.
Yvonne loved to spend her free time with Jessie, at family gatherings, and relaxing with her dear pets. She loved helping stray animals and provided many with full bellies and loving homes. Yvonne's heart touched so many lives. She preached being kind and unselfish to everyone. She would always go out of her way to make people happy. Within minutes of being around her, you would quickly observe her beauty inside and out. Yvonne was an angel in disguise. She had a pure soul and golden heart. Yvonne was unafraid to speak her mind. Her presence will be missed dearly by those who had the joy of knowing her. Though she is not here in the flesh, she will always be with each and every one of us forever.
