Willie Mae is survived by her children Edward Johnson, Shanequa Johnson and Shanice Randall; her siblings Jeanette Tant, Kenneth Johnson, Anthony Bates, Earl Bates Jr, Linda Bates. She is preceded in death by her father, Moses Clemons Johnson, her mother, Etheleen Bates, and her sister, Shirley Dale.
Willie Mae was born on February 8, 1958 in Waxahachie, Texas to Moses Clemeons Johnson and Etheleen Bates. She graduated from Corsicana High School and High-Tech Institute with a certification of Medical Assistant. After moving to Dallas, Willie Mae worked in multiple service industries before retiring early to become a full-time grandmother. Her children remember her as a “straight, no chaser” type of woman. She was witty, funny and had the best one liner for any situation. She worked hard to ensure her children could pursue their dreams and become successful. She was supportive and her love never faltered.
She was a member of New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed traveling, brunch, kicking back and watching the ID channel & HGTV with a cold Keystone Light beer.
Willie Mae was a natural, no nonsense, loving, enduring, understanding, sympathetic and empathetic soul. In remembrance, play some good music, vibe, and enjoy a nice cold one! She wouldn’t have it any other way.
