William Harry Richardson

Born August 23, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, Bill passed away December 23, 2022 in Dallas, Texas, due to complications related to aspiration pneumonia at the age of 89.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ann Richardson of Frisco, Texas; his son, Dr. Steve Richardson of Fullerton, California; his brother, John Richardson of Corona, California; his parents, Harry and Cora Mae Richardson of Santa Ana, California.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Strong of San Diego; his brother, Bob Richardson of Chino, California; his daughter, Susie Darst of Cody, Wyoming; his daughter, Sera Hall and her husband, Bill Hall of Highland Park, Texas; his son, Stewart Richardson of Celina, Texas; his daughters-in-law, Laura Dean-Richardson of Fullerton, California, and Mindy Richardson of Elk Grove, California.

Bill was also blessed to be survived by nine grandchildren including Sandy Polley, Dusty Polley, Amanda Richardson, Michael Richardson and his wife, Natalie Richardson, Heidi Hall, Heather Hall, Harrison Hall, Corry Richardson and Ian Richardson.

Bill was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Compton, California, with his siblings (Marilyn, John and Bob). He loved living next door to his maternal grandparents until after the Korean War. He often retold many memories of his early childhood where he battled polio in an iron lung, his family under quarantine and listening to the air sirens of WWII. He lived a life filled with historic moments surrounded by a loving family.

Bill was an Army Veteran who served honorably from 1953 -1955 and was deployed to West Germany at the precipice of the Cold War. He spent the majority of his life in Southern California, including Fullerton, where he raised his four children, volunteering for Fullerton Hills Bobby Sox Softball as a coach for many years and was proudly selected as an All Star Coach. Bill worked loyally for Smart & Final in California making many friends throughout his 47 years there. After his retirement he moved with his wife to La Quinta, California, where he enjoyed the desert air, then eventually to Frisco, Texas.

Bill loved Baja California, Mexico, and often told stories of his 1959 road trip with his wife as the first couple to drive a compact car the full 800 mile length of Baja without any paved roads. He also reminisced about another of his favorite trips more recently with his two sons (Steve and Stewart) from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas covering over 1500 miles. He had a lifelong love of Mexico where he cultivated numerous dear friends who share his passion for Baja. Bill loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in the arts, musical performances and sporting events throughout their high school and collegiate careers. He was and will be remembered as a passionate supporter, dedicated loyal fan, and most of all, deeply loved grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Chapel. Burial will immediately follow in the Garden of Trees,at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, 75225.
