William C Garre (Bill) passed away April 25, 2012. He was born March 19, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas to William and Florence Garre. Growing up in West Texas, he learned to love diving, golfing, and hunting with his two brothers. Early in life he developed an interest in medicine, and after graduating from West Texas State University, he attended Southwestern Medical School earning his medical degree in 1958. Bill performed his residency at the University of Mississippi, where he rose to become chief resident. Returning to Texas in 1965, he began a 30-year medical career that touched thousands of lives. Bill was Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Saint Paul Hospital and Medical Arts Hospital until 1995. After he retired, Bill continued to serve as a physician for the Military Entrance Processing Station in Dallas until earlier this month. Bill married his soul mate Nancy Lee Boyle in 1967. Bill and Nancy were active parishioners at Christ the King Church. He had an insatiable passion for learning, and among his many interests were snow skiing, golf, hunting, photography, and cooking. Together with Nancy he enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Paris and Rome, along with spending time with family and their many dear friends. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years; his brother Larry; his children, Lorrie Scott, Bill Garre, and Nikki Garre-McCuistion; and grandchildren, Brandi Benton, Brittani Miller, Samantha Korkmas, and Cayden McCuistion; and great-granddaughter Jordyn Benton.
He was an incredible loving and generous man who will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the charity of choice.
The Rosary will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012. The memorial mass will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.
