William Clark Fairchild

William Clark Fairchild passed away suddenly Friday, June 29th, at the age of 82. Billy was born June 24, 1936, to Verna and Harold Fairchild, in Rosston, Arkansas. He graduated in 1956 from Southern State College with a BBA in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964, serving his last few years in the Reserves, and was given an Honorable Discharge in 1964. In 1960, Billy married the love of his life, Kaye. They were married for 47 years, until her passing in 2008. Billy was a cotton broker for his entire adult life, except for a brief stint in real estate. He retired in the 1980’s to help his beloved Kaye with her lifelong dream of having her own antique store. They traveled throughout the states and abroad collecting pieces for the store, Elephant Walk. She would run the store and he delighted in refinishing the furniture. When he wasn’t working, he often enjoyed a round of golf. After Kaye became ill, they sold the store and traveled until her passing. He faithfully took care of her throughout her illness. The most important thing in Billy’s life was his family and doted on his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was especially proud to be a great-grandfather! He attended as many of his grandchildrens’ activities that he could and never missed a holiday with family!

Billy is predeceased by his parents, his beloved Kaye, son, Robert, sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Charles Neimeyer and brother-in-law, Jerry Aker. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Reagan and Jim Bailey; grandsons Jimmy Bailey, wife Kathryn and their son James; his grandson, Robert Bailey; and his granddaughter, Anna Bailey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Rose Ruth, Steve Niemeyer, Kelley Willis and Melinda McCue and their spouses, children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all of his friends on Cherry Street: Dave, Lynn, Hank, Lamar, Cajun, and especially, Jac Horton, who helped the family greatly in their strongest time of need and was an incredibly devoted friend.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM in the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, 75225.
