Thomas James Nolan, III. passed away on December 13, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. Tom was born on September 23, 1936 in Kansas City, Mo. to Virginia Hunt Nolan and Thomas James Nolan, II. Lovingly known to family and friends as T.J.N, he was the second of seven siblings, and raised in a big Irish Catholic family in Omaha, Nebraska. Tom was educated by the Jesuits, and graduated from Creigton University.
He was an example of the meaning of husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Tom had a successful career as vice president of Johnson & Johnson in New Jersey, and then in Arlington, Texas. He was president of Medline, a large medical company. At the age of 45 he made a courageous decision to leave the corporate world to become a real estate entrepreneur, and developed subdivisions around Arlington Texas. He later became an executive with Patten Corporation, a New York Stock exchange company specializing in real estate development.
He really was one of the true listeners in the world today. Tom had a marvelous sense of humor and a quick wit. His influence was not only in the professional realm but also in the personal growth and success of those he mentored. His impact will live on in the countless lives he shaped with his insightful advice, and his support of people from all walks of life.
Tom was a one-of-a-kind man, a source of positivity in a world that sometimes struggles to find it. His ability to see the best in others was truly remarkable. Tom’s optimism was infectious, and his positive outlook became a guiding light for all who were fortunate to be a part of his life, whether for a brief moment or a lifetime.
While he was undeniably successful in his professional careers, his true passion was the roles of father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was not just a part of his life; it was his life. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we find comfort in the knowledge that Tom’s legacy will live on. His teachings, values, and the love he shared will be passed down through the generations. He undoubtedly left this world a better place, and that is the true measure of a successful life.
He is survived by his 5 children, Stacia Nolan Imhoff (John) Michael Nolan (Teri), Kelly Nolan, Mary Michelle Nolan Gamblin (Chris) and Joe Nolan (Maria); 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as numerous close friends and extended family members. Despite the challenges of life, Tom maintained close friendships with his ex- spouses, Sharon Nolan Clements, and Barbara Billings Nolan, as well as Barbara’s family. Collectively, all of these people formed a strong support system that enriched his life with love and companionship.
