Tom was born on December 19, 1936 to Albert Brown and Mary Schafer Brown. His family also included 3 sisters. He attended Sidney Lanier grade school until 1950 and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1954.
He served in the Army from 1960 to 1966 with active service at Fort Hood, Texas where he worked as a clerk typist.
Tom began his working career at the Dallas Morning News where he won the Highest Carrier award. He worked for several other companies and eventually retired from the Rainbo Bread Company in 1999. He then worked as a school bus driver for the Mesquite Independent School District for 10 years before he retired for good. During retirement he also had a part time job doing minor repairs at his church. After retirement he became a valuable, dedicated volunteer at the Mesquite Public Library for approximately 8 years.
In 2000 he met and fell in love with Judi Alfertig Brown. They met at Eastridge Park Christian Church and were married in 2001. After living in Dallas and Seagoville, he moved to Mesquite where they bought a home together. Tom and Judi had just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary before he passed.
For the last year of his life, Tom lived at GoodLife Senior Living and Memory Care in Heath, Texas where he was loved and well cared for.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley, second wife Jo Brown, daughters Cheryl Ann and Baby Brown, and grandson Tommy. He is survived by his devoted wife Judi, daughters Kay, Donna, Sandye, and Jeanie, sons Tom and Ed, sisters Mary Joyce and Alberta, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is a member of the Park Christian Community Church where his memorial service will be held.
