Steve was born the son of Duane and Louise Fethkenher on August 5th, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his two beloved sons Cory Curtis and Andrew Douglas, and his brothers Sonny Fethkenher and Jimmy Fethkenher.
He will be greatly missed by all, but most of all by his soulmate and wife of 50 years, Susan Fethkenher. He will also be missed by his pride and joy, his loving daughter Mandy Scott and her husband Shane Scott of Sunnyvale, Texas. His grandchildren were his heart and they will dearly miss him as well: Drew, JT, and Landry Scott. His loving sister will miss him deeply, Dana (Kip) Inman of Anna, Texas. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews and countless wonderful friends.
Steve is a Dallas native, attending Bryan Adams High School. He met the love of his life, Susan and they got married December 19, 1971. He owned and operated Northridge Cleaners in Mesquite, Texas for 50 years, retiring in 2007. He loved his customers and reveled in the fact that he got to serve generations of families.
Steve was a jokester. His family will be blessed for the rest of their lives remembering his jokes, pranks, and charismatic demeanor. But even more than the laughter, his family will cherish the memories of his selflessness and love for his family. His one and only daughter, Mandy describes him as her rock.
The love Steve had for his grandchildren was unparalleled. He and Susan had the privilege of taking care of each grandchild in their preschool years. Steve said it was the best and lowest paying job he had ever had.
He was fiercely loved and he will be missed.
We will celebrate Steve’s life on Saturday, September 10th at a graveside service at Grove Hill Cemetery at 1pm with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Steve with donations to: The Menke Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Grove-Hill.com for the Fethkenher family.
